How to Use Cupys

Sterilisation

Before using Cupys for the first time, you should sterilise the cup in boiling water for 2-4 minutes. Make sure you don't allow the cup to touch the bottom of the pot to prevent damages or rupture to some parts. After each period and before returning the cup into the organic storage pouch, repeat the process for the next use.

How to insert Cupys: Step-by-step

  1. Wash your hands: Thoroughly, wash your hand with mild soap and clean water before attempting insertion
  2. Apply lubricant (if necessary): To make insertion easier, you may need to apply water or a water based lubricant to the rim of the cup.
  3. Fold your cup:You may need to experiment with different types of folding techniques to find the method that works for you. There are different folding methods, popular of which are, the C- fold, 7-fold and punch-down fold.
  4. Insert: With the rim facing up, you need to keep the cup folded while inserting. Make sure to relax your muscle while inserting and find a comfortable position be it lying down, standing up, sitting, or squatting. You will find a comfortable position for you over time.
  5. Release the cup:Once you get the folded cup inside you, release to allow the cup open up. It will spring open and create an airtight suction seal that prevent leaks.
  6. Check for seal:If done properly, you shouldn't feel you have something inside you. You may reach in to confirm there's a no noticeable fold anywhere. But if there is you can rotate it.
  7. Rotate: You can rotate the base of the cup to make it unfold.

And phew!!! You are ready to continue your daily activities. Enjoy up to 12 hours of non-stop period protection.

How to Remove menstrual cup:

  1. Wash your hands: Again, start by washing your hand thoroughly with mild soap and clean water
  2. Relax: As you did when inserting it, find that comfortable position that works best for you. Make sure you aren't tensed up.
  3. Remove:Place your index finger and thumb inside your vagina and use them to gently pull the stem, until you reach the base. Now pinch the base to release the seal and ease it out. Do not pull the stem while removing your cup to avoid discomfort and pain. The holes at the top of Cupys helps for an easier release.
  4. Empty: Empty the cup then rinse and wipe clean. Then it's ready to be inserted.

Reinsert or store Cupys:

After rinsing off your cup, you can reinsert as explained above. But if your period is over, disinfect the cup by sterilisation in boiling water for 2-4 minutes, then return to the organic storage pouch.
